My identity portrait
For my identity portrait I tried to portray my favorite color ,blue, in somehow so I put different shades of blue into the shirt which I believe turned out great. Creating a self portrait can influence how a person wants others to see them by being able to put certain material in any way, shape or form to express themselves. I believe portraits can change perceptions of others by showing what someone is interested in from the background or how they construct the project. I decided to use two of my most favorite subjects for my background and is something that is huge in my life and that is wrestling. The sport of wrestling has made a huge impact in my life by making me a strong, independent person with outstanding discipline, passion, and sportsmanship. I incorporated some of my favorite collegiate wrestling teams including Oklahoma State University, special types of big wrestling brands, and one of the best wrestlers in the world. On the other side I incorporated something that means a lot to me as well but have to sacrifice during times of wrestling. Everybody loves food, and during wrestling I have to go long periods of time with limited food to maintain my weight for the sport. Those just happen to be a few of my favorite meals and snacks.
Technology is relevant to me and my two closest friends in many different ways. For example one way would be the means of communication. My friends and I always will play online games together, along with always text or go on social media. It also helps with my education because I am always on my computer working. Three types of technology that my family and I couldn't live without could very well be any forms of technology that involves communication, transportation, and exercise. My family loves to keep in contact with other, along with being able to travel. My family loves how me and my siblings are athletes and we train a lot, so having the ability to exercise with technology really helps. For my Project I decided to show how the brain is the stem for all ideas. The technological factor that the brain portrays is the gears working and grinding with the idea that wifi, music, and social media play a factor in an average teenage mind. The brain then connects to a "cable" like stem that revolves around creating the image of a head that eventually ends at the connection of a bright light bulb signalling that an idea or thought has been found. As you can see from the beginning of my project, I decided to restart. I had the idea that the cable like structure would revolve around into a light bulb but they way I was doing it did not seem right. I had the idea that it would make create the illusion of a head and I believe that it turned out wonderful.
The Value of Words
Words form a value in our lives and with our connections to others by helping us stay in communication with each other and being able to form relationships. Words fill our lives by having us be able to express our emotions, stand up to things, and stay connected. A picture says a thousand words, and words have a big relationship with works of art. An example of this could be how many different artists and fans of art might have different representations of certain works of art. Everyone takes something in differently, and being able to represent that using words is deeply encouraged. I decided to depict a boy that was remembering the passing of a love interest. The words that I used to represent around the work were lyrics from songs that talk about memories of someone special. Each song has their own meaning but all depict the same thing of someone thinking of that special girl. I used both English lyrics and Spanish lyrics to be more subtle and different.
The Repetitive Print |
For my print making project, I decided to do a cross because they have always in my life. The cross represents a huge portion of my life that has helped me in everything that I have done. I wear a cross everyday, I have them hanging on the wall in my house, and pretty much is always with me. I put my name and my birth date into the project to incorporate a little bit of me. The flowers I chose because they are also reminiscent with the cross and thought it would add a nice touch. I found that I should of made the project bigger because I had to cut in deep to make the prints look right, and it made the cross look smaller in size. The writing was much harder to do then I anticipated but I managed. I chose blue and black backgrounds for the final prints to give it a nice but simple flare.
Awareness Art
For my awareness art project, I decided to do the situation of two brothers who got deported from the United States. All they want to do is go back to see their family. This is a hot back and forth topic. People being deported is a good and bad thing, but me, I'm against it. The problem is not so much just extraditing people, but the fact that they take them away from their family and their lives. This affects me because this has happened to people in my family. Something would happen and then just like that, they're gone. I decided to incorporate the america flag as an illusion but show the efforts that people would do to get across for their family and for better lives. All they want to do is be with their family.
